On the Emerald Isle

"Distance means so little when someone means so much." - anonymous

Hello friends! While my business is being refined and completed, I thought I'd share some memories from the shores of Emerald Isle, NC, where I ventured to a few weeks ago. There's a bit of Arkansas backwoods in there as well ;)

I've been going to the beach with my family for the past few years and it's been wonderful. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, a beautiful man was sent into my life and our family grew (thank you, thank you, thank you Jesus). He joined us on our escapades and was able to meet my extended family for the first time. You know your grandma likes your boy when she makes you "couples cookies" :)

It was an amazing week with all of the general goofiness sprinkled through, including (but not limited to): our first bad Highway 55 experience, overstuffed bellies and hearts, questionable 70's detective shows, the Yellow Rain Jacket Hunt and Successful Capture of 2017, and a whole lotta pictures. No sea shore bubble went unshot. I didn't want to miss any of it.

My favorite experiences were the ones I had when I put down my camera. Towards the end of the week, we had a huge lightning storm on the beach. The sky was lit up from east to west. I grabbed my camera, said Yellow Rain Jacket and bae and headed out to the back porch. We sat there for at least 10 minutes with my camera at the ready, shooting the lightning storm in video clips. But the experience was so much sweeter when I put down my camera. We sat side by side in rocking chairs and listened to music through shared earbuds, sealing in the moment with Halcyon 3750 and the sound of waves.

A few days and many adventures later, it was time to go. There were hugs and waving, well wishes and love until next year, and a bag of tea cakes from my grandma for the road.

My man and I went on our first plane ride with just the two of us, which was event filled and amazing. We spent the next week at his house, growing and enjoying time with his family. I loaded up on supplies for making cards and worked my creative juices between outings and adventures around town. We carved our initials into a bridge at my favorite place in the world, which was - simply - magical. And each time, we were greeted back at the house by his blue heeler puppy - 90 percent sass, 10 percent insanity, altogether an adorable mess.

After giving a few cards to the family and saying prayers for the road ahead, we were off on our final journey. Saying goodbye after three weeks in the same place was rough. Long distance is hard, no lie, but worth it. So worth it.

Back at home, I've been buzzing with ideas and caffeine and more than ready to start selling. I want to do it right, so I'm taking my time and making sure you guys have the most high-quality creations I can make. I'm ready to grow, create and cherish this summer with you! Talk to me any time on my social media accounts, whether it be about the new biz or how your summer has been going. Have a great Wednesday ;)
