The Great Unknown
"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” - Søren Kierkegaard
Good morning, friends! Glad to see you (write to you?) in this photo corner of the world :)
Admittedly, I wasn't sure where I wanted to go with today's post. I'm a photojournalism major and have a camera in my hand at all times, but I don't know where to begin in terms of sharing my experiences! I'm just starting up my photo business again, so my new adventures have yet to come. For now, I'll reflect a little.
This year has been a learning experience for me, but my camera has brought me through it. I've always been able to see life better through a lens. It helps me interpret the world around me, reflect on the blessings I have and capture memories that I can look back on for years to come. Learning the ropes of photojournalism has deepened that experience because now, I'm telling those memories, reflections and interpretations of other peoples' lives. I'm using photography to show the indisputable visuals of news, trying to continue that powerful affect they can have by making powerful images.
I was fortunate enough to lead a photo project last year that brought me newfound joy for the power of images. We were able to preserve some of the memories and artwork in the hall I worked in, and it was a crazy wonderful journey. It taught me about the power of photography and history and the impact a community can make on your life. Each photo was preserving a moment, an art piece or a memory that would mean something to students going forward. Photography is the visual history book that we all have the power to write.
All of these experiences get me fired up for what's ahead! They've taught me more and more about photography and how it's changing the world, and that changes me.
Thanks for sticking with me through my sappy reflection days ;) I'll have more content on techniques and adventures in the future! In the meantime, check out the "book online" page in the main menu and make one of your own adventures happen! I can't wait to work with you :)
Have a great Tuesday!
